I've done tons of headunits and last night a stinkin 95 geo metro kicked my butt. Does anyone know how to take the factory head unit out. I had the trim around it off, and the 4 screws the hold the double din radio out. Then the darn thing wouldn't pull out. There must be a screw, clip, backstrap, or somthing that needs to be undone. If anyone has done this before please help.

Thanks a bunch.

While I'm asking once it does come out will a standard gm harness pug into the factory harness?

There is a screw on a rear support or back brace. I'm not entirely sure but I think you can access it behind the ashtray.

Yea there is a bracket below the radio with a lg phillips screw in it . you will need a long shafted screw driver. Its just below the radio.

I made a mistake it's a 94 metro not a 95. Oh well I dought they are too different.

Thanks so much. It was really bothering me but It was dark out and I couldn't see it with a flash light. I get my second attempt tomorrow evening. I'm sure I'll have better luck.

Ok so there was actually a screw that needed to come out for the bottom rear of the radio. You can only get to it from under the dash of the car. Once that was out the radio was replaced in no time.
