i've fiddle with systems before , but never in real depth..
Well im putting a new system in my 92 celica and want to make sure it's rock solid and im not real sure the signifance between RMS and max peeks power, except min to run and max.
So here is what i have so far ,
Magnet Weight: | Niche Audio NW1244T 12" 80 Oz |
Impedance: | Dual 4 Ohm |
RMS Power Handling: | 300 Watts |
Peak Power Handling: | 600 Watts |
Size : | 12 Inch |
Head unit is a JVC LD-LH1000
I'm still shopping for a class d amp to push my niche , any suggestions ? i was lookin at the MTX , infinity or RF my self , also if you know of any forums that can help me learn the basics of Car systems , cross overs watts/ rms/peek and such that would be awsome , i've found some but there not in the beginner sections :P
Thanks for all your help :)
lookin for info on a good match for a, , thanks for the info

Max wattage usually should be ignored. The rms numbers are a much better number to use. So you need an amp that ideally matches your woofers rms (300 wrms). You can go over or under with the wattage to a degree so you have plenty of options. This rule applies to amps as well, look at the rms not the max wattage. A class D mono sub amp will be a place to start when looking at amps. They are ideal for subs and are efficient.
Your enclosure is going to play a very big role in how your woofer performs so keep that in mind.
Some amps that I would consider are MTX, Arc, fosgate, kicker, memphis. Avoid the flashy chrome ones that claim really high out put at super cheap prices, you get what you pay for.

Don't look at Peak power handling. It means nothing. Only look at RMS. Find an amplifier that produces 200-300w @ 2ohms RMS. Buy a reputable brand, take care with the installation, REALLY take care with the box design and construction, and you'll be in business.

That amplifier would do a nice job.
