i have a rockford fosgate p3001 mono block 2 channel class d amp(none bridgable)... i just bought 2 12" Volfenhag subs with dual voice coils... i have no clue about ohms.. how many ohms do i want to go to each channel for a lot of output and extreme lows? that is my big question... but my other one os how should i be wiring the coils together? i think i know how to wire them so i will get the disired amount of ohms but if anyone will give their inout on these to topics it will be appreciated...

Your amp is MONO which means it has one channel of output. It may have two sets of connectors, but they are paralleled together inside the amp. Your amplifier is stable to 2-ohms net load which means you cannot safely connect any load lower than that to the amp. You say the woofers you purchased are DVC. Voice Coils: 4 Layer Dual 4 Ohm... I have a paper that i got with my amp says its rated power is 300 w rms X 1 @ 2 ohms...it has 235 rms watts per channel @ 4 ohms < 1% THD+N...s/n >80 dBA (reference: 1 watt into 4 ohms).... 389 total rms watts @ 2 ohms < 1% THD+N all channels combined the underline info is straight for sheet i got when my amp was tested.. i dont know if it helps but it might... do you need any other specifics? ------------- if you want me to give u msn messenger, ask

To safely use these subs with this amp wire the subs in this method ONLY. Wiring Option #2

Nope, that's great. You will need to accomplish a series-parallel wiring to create a 4-ohm load on the amp. Like this:

DYohn.... the diagram shows only using one "channel" should i wire as though i am wiring one dvc in each channel? ... i have been told that i cannot bridge.. so should i wire as show or would it be better to wire seperately? ------------- if you want me to give u msn messenger, ask

The Rockford Fosgate Punch P3001 only has ONE channel. It does not matter which + and - connection on the amp you use. And you're right, Rob, your's is nicer. Mine is bigger, though.  ------------- Support the12volt.com

If you: 1. have both woofers in one enclosure - wire them together as Rob showed above and connect to one of each terminals of the amp. The other two terminals will not be used. You can tag them "do not use" or tape them off if you wish, for a personal reminder that the ohm load on the amp will be exceeded if you connect a load to them. 2. have the woofers separated into two different enclosures, you would use both sets of terminals on the amp. The load would be 8 ohm to each set of terminals, combined within the amp for a total 4 ohm load on the amp. It's the same either way. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
