My wife just bought one of these and is disappointed in the stereos performance. She had a 2003 Impala that had a small factory amplifier on a pair of 6x9s in the rear along with the front door speakers, now she has a six speaker system that has I believe 6.5" in all four doors. Anyway there is no where near the low end response that she had with the Impala and she would like some of that back. The Equinox comes with a factory option for a 7 speaker premium stereo setup instead of 6, which I assumed was a factory amp and subwoofer somewhere. Does anyone happen to know where that subwoofer is located when that option is added? I thought it may be underneath the dash in the front and was going to put in an aftermarket sub in that spot and a small amplifer for her there since I have an extra LOC and enough 8 gauge to do the whole job.

I also may go ahead and give her one of my TM3 subs if she can use it. I am considering removing my middle seat in my truck and getting a box built that can handle a bit larger speaker, anyone have experience doing that? Was considering a single 12" over dual 10". Any opinions would be appretiated, sorry for the longwinded post.

The OEM sub enclosure is in the rear passenger tailgate/sidepanel area.......

Alright thank you both for the information, I will have to see what I can do with it, makes for alot longer on wiring but that is not all that big a deal. Any idea what size that subwoofer is? My initial guess would be an 8".

Thanks again for the help.

I recommend the audiobahn atb10at ten inch powered tube. comes w/ all the wiring and rcas, both high and low level options, hits pretty hard, is designed for such vehicles, and the best part is that its all harnessed, so if you need the space for what ever reason you can just unplug it.
