I have tested the accessory leads on my 2001 Chevy Malibu, there is no live circuit and I tested all the fuses and they are good as well. How would I find what is causing both of these power leads to be shorted out? This is for a cd/radio installation. I did get it to work when the leads were live but it stopped working and now they are dead. Thanks in advance for any help.

This vehicle has a class II databus. If you are testing wires for the radio circuit there is no dedicated ignition or accessory wire. To get the ignition wire you must go to the main ignition harness coming down the steering column. Look for a larger pink wire in a large bundle of wires. The ACC wire should be in the same bunch of wires and will be brown.

A further note to this, use the proper radio harness which relocates the factory headunit in this vehicle. Do a search on the class II databus which has been discussed many times on this forum for the PROPER information relating to it.

I had a previous radio installed and the relocation is not an issue, I will look for the wire bundle with the larger pink wire. Thanks!!
