I just installed my amp using Hi-level speaker inputs in the amp. Everything seemed ok, but when I turned off the car and came back later and restarted my speakers were out, all of them. I unpluged/pluged back in the hi-level input plug in the amp and all speakers came back. Everytime I turn off the ignition I must do this in order to get my subs and factory speakers to come back on. I drive a 2000 Grand Prix. Anyone else experience this or know how to remedy it?

I have definatly had this happen before, I just need to remeber how to fix it. I got a couple questions for you first. A) does your car have the monsoon system in it B) where are you getting the remote signal from C)what kind of amp is it and D) are you using a converter built into the amp of an external one. Hit me back with those answers and I might be able to help you out.

A)not the monsoon. Factory GM Delco.
B)Getting the remote from a fuse tap plug The sunroof fuse which is only on with the key on.
C)Amp is a Scosche from Wally World
D)Not sure what you mean by that question. My amp accepts Hi-level inputs so I spliced into the rear deck speakers into a plug that came with the amp.

Test the remote line and see if it is ignition or accessory. I am betting money on the fact that it is on an ignition line and it needs to be on an accesory line. If I remeber right thats something I learned the hard way. To test for accessory you hook up your multimeter to the suspected wire or fuse, it will show 0volts with the key off, 12volts with the key at accessory, 12 volts when the key is at igniton, but will drop right off when the vehicle is being cranked. There is a big orange wire in the main harness at the steering column that is gaurenteed to be accessory. Try that and I bet you will fix your problem

But my amp turns off when the key is off. So it should be an accessory fuse. At first we had it on a constant 12v and my power light on the amp never went off. Then I found another one to try and no my power light only comes on when key is at accessory or starting.

no because ignition turns off when the key is off as well so all you have done is prove the wire is not 12 volt but I am almost certain the sunroof is off ignition and not accessory so as I said I would check for an accessory wire.

Ok I Will try another rem location tomorrow. Hopefully it will help. Thanks! I'll search the net for a good spot to run it too or I'll go buy a multimeter.

Like I said, the main orange wire in the wires that come from the steering column is a definite source and you can tap into it. Just make sure you put a small fuse in the remote line and you will be gold.

PROBLEM SOLVED! The hi-level input adapter has 5 wires 2 for each speaker and one that is a common ground, well I know some basics about electronics and I figured if it had a ground wire it needed to be grounded, but with the wire grounded the amp would not turn on properly so I unplugged it, tied it off and stuffed it under the carpet. Amp sounds great now! Thanks for all the ideas you guys are great!

Thats funny, I didnt relize that you actually grounded that. Something I took for granted I guess.
