Can you parallel a 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker? What would be the impedance? 5 ohm?? Thanks.

It would be at 2.6ohms. It will work if your amplifier can handle the load.

And realize that the 4 ohm speaker will receive twice the current flow as the 8 ohm speaker.

It would be a 2.667 ohm load.

1/4 + 1/8 = 1/r
2/8 + 1/8 = 1/r
3/8 = 1/r
8/3 = r

r = 2.667

or use this

I don't know how that would sound though and how the power would distribute between the two (that's a little too advanced for me).

Are you trying to mix home audio with car? Or do you have a mid that's 4ohms and a tweeter that's 8ohms?

wow ... two people posted before i could type this.

Oh perfect. So another question. If my amp (Orion 8004) is rated at 100 x 4 at 4 ohms and 200 x 4 at 2 ohms, do you know what it would do at 2.6 ohms? About 175 x 4?? Thanks again.

The 4 ohm speaker will produce twice the power of the 8 ohm speaker.  It is not a good idea to do this except in special installations.
