Okay, this has gotten ridiculous, but I'll try it for my grandfather anyway. Okay, I'm installing an am/fm stock delco stereo from a 1989 Cavalier(hmmm...sounds familiar from my previous topics)into a 1983 Ford F100. Anyhow, It works in the Ford...with one exception-the antenna plugin is too large!!! I'm looking for suggestions on this because my grandfather is persistant on this! He's just got to have the stereo in the vehicle. Doesn't want to buy one...please help.

Go to any car stereo shop and buy an adapter to go from a regular antenna to gm mini.  This is a very common part.

Oh, by the way, the crazy old man cut the antenna wire end off....can it be spliced back on?

Just buy a new end and solder it on.

Go to radio shack and get a solderless antenna tip. It's only about $ 3.00 CDN for this piece.

This solderless antenna tip, can one be bought to fit the gm mini connection to the stereo or do I buy the tip and the adaptor?

you can buy both from antenna tips from Radio Shack..I'd stick with the Standard...Becasue if you ever wanna swap out another head unit in the future, the Fords' a Standard tip...the GM..you'll ahve to buy an Adapter..

Thanks gentleman, once again. I spliced the wiring and then soldered it. Then, I had him buy an adaptor for the stereo which unfotunately was not at radio shack. It was at Mitch's Car Audio(great place). It works fine now...hmmm now I wonder what other things I'll be asked to do?
