i have had problems with my car bttery and altenator i have a 1600 watt sony amp i dont no what model in a 199 mercury tracer i think i need to upgrade my altenator where is the best place to find one i have searched but have not foudn anythign for my car specifically

were are you located, there are lots of places that do this, call all your local parts stores (not autozone sh*t, like real parts stores) and see if they have anyone or know anyone that will re spin an alternator to up the amperage,

there are people that respin or rewire or whatever you wanna call it,, they strip it down and wrap new wires around it to make the alt put out more power, it's a LOT cheaper then buying regular ones, and if the guy knows what he's doing it's just as good... a stinger alt, 200 amp, custom built can be between 400-800 dollors, someone respining them is usually abou 150 to 200,,

You can also buy brand new ones for the price you just quoted to have them rewound...
