I feel the urge to add a dedicated mid bass driver to my doors. I have a few thoughts and questions though.

1. The driver is going to mounted in my door panel about 1.5' to 2' from 6.5" driver, is that a problem?

2. The location where i plan to put it will put the driver facing the seat, very close in fact maybe 5-6" away, is that going drasticly reduce sound?

3. The driver I am looking at is the Dynaudio md170 (dynaudio.com). I can get this at cost, unless someone has a better deal or a better sounding driver at this cost/ level let me know.

4.Power I am looking at; another Nakamichi, the PA1002 for about $250 or an Arc of suitable power at cost too. I am going to upgrade my 6x9s soon with rainbows, I might use my pa2004 just for front stage and accquire a second 2 channel for the 6x9s. Opinions/thoughts?

5. The enlcosure is, umm well, I don't know yet I believe  it has to be either sealed or vented, I am going with sealed because of space issues and sq reasons.

One comment: mounting a mid-bass so it faces a seat could be problematic.  I suggest (if you can) purchase or fabricate some kick panls and mount either the mid-bass OR the mid-tweet there.  Dynaudio sells fine quality speakers, in general.

What sort of problems, come on you can be wordy I don't mind.

Your suggestion of using kick panels is fine, but as far as pre fab kicks, they only house a 6.5" driver and that still leaves me with no place to put the 8" driver, as it won't fit where I have my 6.5"s mounted, I guess building one like you suggested might work but there is very little space...

Hey dude I'm planning to do the same thing! I am wondering what you plan to do as far as crossovers for the front. 3 way passive or something?

I am going to keep the Rainbow's together and use the x-over on the second amp or the last two channels on the pa2004, i am not sure where I will cross everything over yet, that will happen when I can hear it all together.

What vehicle are you doing this to?
