Hey guys, just installed an Alpine MRD-M500 amp and SWR-1241D sub.

Problem is setting up the amp, instructions first rule is to turn up the headunit volume so the OVER indicator light goes off on the amp, but i turned up the max vol on the HU and it indicator light does not even come on. What is wrong?

Also, how to i setup the amp properly? =) thanks

Sounds to me like you HU does not have enough output to drive the amp all the way to "over"... This means you either need a HU that will be more compatible with your amp, or a line driver or some other type of in-line signal processing device with enough output to drive the amp all the way.

The HU is the PREFERRED method, as ANY signal increasing device in the line will automatically add its own noise and distortion, IN ADDITION TO amplifying the noise and distoetion already there from the devices before it...

I can't tell you. Every install will be a little bit different. As a suggestion, forget the "over" light, and set your gains properly. Do a search on this forum for "Setting Gains", and you will find HUNDREDS of posts regarding the subject...

      Hi,
Once again, it is me asking for me. Here is my system.
  Alpine CDA9833 Alpine MRDM500 Alpine SWR1241D
The sub is wired @ 2ohm
Preciously, and in detail, what does each function on the AMP do and what should the settings be? =) Also any adjustments to the HU?

Try this, I have the 9835 and the 301 ALpine amp. First set you input switch to 4v, set your input to -6 or 0, set gain to 0, crossover 80/24, sub sonic filter 25, bass boost off, eq off, and be sure to save your settings on the last menu item. Also, I had the same problems setting up my alpine amp. The sub preout on the Alpine only puts out 4v when it is maxed out at 15 on the hu sub volume level. Try the settings above and see how it does. You may have to leave input at 0. At -6 on mine I had to leave the hu sub volume at 13-15, but still did not produce the bass I wanted. At 0 on the input I leave hu sub bass at 7-9 depending how much I want.

Don't just leave the gain at 0 or - 6... you need to set it right. Check page 10 in the manual, "Adjusting the Input Level." Press the mode button until "input" is displayed, then press the enter button. Press the < or > buttons until "level" is displayed, then press the enter button. Then use the < or > button to adjust the gain. -------------
