i have just purchased 2 alpine 12'' type-r 500w subs.they are DVC and i plan to house them in a slot ported box in a 1998 chevy blazer. what would you guys recommend in a D-class amp to feed these babies? considering the alpine mrdm-1005,rockford fosgate 10001bd,or the mb quart raa2400. i would like to stick with alpine but was told they did not make an amp to push these subs, which i think is bull!need advice.

Are the subs 2omh DVC? If So:

The Alpine MRD-1005 should push those babies just fine. Specs on that amp are 1000x1 @2ohm. The subs rms is 500w so, 1000/2= 500 per sub. Should pound pretty hard.

Have you used them yet, if not, take them back and get the 2ohmDVC. With 4ohm DVC subs you will have 8 ohms or 1 ohm. With 2ohm DVC subs they can be wired for 2ohms. At 4ohms that amp probably won't do the job just right.

thanks for the info chris.but correct me if i am wrong...if i run my wires in the following configuration, shouldnt they amp see a four ohm load:

take negative side of amp to first coil and jump it to negative of second sub.take positive from amp to 1st sub,1st coil, then take jumper wires from 1st sub 1st coil(+) to 2nd coil(-) and repeat this for sub#2 and create 2ohms? or am i in reality showing the amp less than 2ohms? these subs show specs of 3.7 ohms per coil.

No, either a 1 or 4ohm load with 4ohm DVC.

Here's what it will look like.
