I have read conflicting posts about installing an aftermarket head unit into a 2004 ford taurus. They say to use the Metra 99-5716 (2000+ Ford Taurus/Sable kit). The difference between the 2003 and 2004 is that there is a passenger airbag light in the radio bezel on the 2004. I have read that if this is not addressed properly that the entire SRS system is disabled. There is also a thread (named Do Not use Metra's dash kit for '04 Taurus, in this forum) that says to connect a 10K resistor to the tan/lt.blue and dk blue/orange wires. Has anybody heard or done this. If possible can somebody send and info reguarding this install procedure along with any kit/part numbers that I need to correctly install the radio and still have functional airbags.

ive been told that you cannot put an aftermarket radio in a 2004 taurus because of the airbag controls. i would not even try doing it, but if you want to put a system in there, then i would use a line output convertor
