Has anybody installed a HU in a 04 Monte Carlo yet with the bypass harness and some red wire the shop gave the guy for me to install for his dash or something.

Connect the red wire to an accessory circuit and run to your deck.

Run it where on the deck?  Just use the red wire they gave him and run it to like a dome light circuit or something?

That would be great if you wanted the radio to turn on and off anytime the domelight came on.

Connect it to the red turn on wire on the head unit. Run the other end to a switched 12v source. If you go to the ignition switch, make sure to put a fuse inline. If the a/c controls are accessible, there should be a pink wire which will test as an accessory wire that you could tap into.

Run the red wire to the red igintion wire on the new radio, connect the other end to the ignition wire or acc wire in the main wire harness coming down the steering column. The wire colors may be pink for Ignition and brown for ACC (if they did not change the colors), so test with a meter of course.

Do not run to the a/c controls for an accessory- they usually won't take even the small load you put on them, and can start acting funny.  It's not much harder to run to the column.
