I just recently replaced the head unit and speakers in my 97 four door Tahoe.  The problem is that with the Alpine head unit, the rear door speakers will not play.  The front door and roof mounted cargo speakers work fine.  The thing is that when I put the factory deck back in, all the speakers work including the rear doors.  The wires that run the rear doors dont even come up to the factory wiring harness in the dash.  I've installed a few car stereos before and never ran into this problem.  Any ideas?

Is the factory amp remote turn on lead receiving power ? That is probably why there are no rear speaker wires from the head unit.

Jeff,

Would you happen to have a wiring diagram for that?  I figured it was probably a factory amp but I cant find what wire would be the turn on, or where the amp is for that matter.  All your help is greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem on my 1999 Suburban.  Hook the remote turn on wire from the aftermarket head unit to the blue wire on the GM adapter harness(Metra) or to the blue wire of the stock plug.  Then it should work fine
