I am looking to get a system for my 97 chevy x-cab. I need some ideas on some good subwoofers (preferably 12's). I have been looking at JL Audio 12w3v2 which looked pretty good, but i was wondering if there was any better 12's out there for around the same price. I also do not know what features to look for in an amp, so a little information would be greatly appreciated.

Alright. Need some more info first.

1) What is your budget?
2) How much space (in cubic feet) do you have for a subwoofer box?
3) What system's of friends have you heard and liked?
4) What kind of music do you listen to?

1. My buget for my system (deck, 2 subs, amp, custom box) is about 2000. This includes the installation, wires and every thing else to install it.

2.Not acutually sure. Its going under my seat which I raised 3".

3.Non that I can recall. Havent heard many.

4.I like rap, rock, country, pretty much all types.

Maybe instead of a JL W3V2, try an Adire Audio Shiva or maybe a RE SX.

I second the Adire Shiva.

I have succesfully installed two Eclipse aluminum 10's under the seat of a xtra cab Chev with no modifications to the seat. Results = posted_image If more space is available, output levels will surely come up and amplitude at lower frequencies as well.

sddk: since it is going under your seat we need to know:

1) Your actual clearance under that seat; and

2) Your actual air space available.

It really is silly to consider ANY subwoofer before you have these numbers nailed down.

Subwoofer buying decisions start and end with the box for success.

I'd say more along the lines of an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1. Great sq sub. And with a high sensitivity rating, it will get louder with less power than a Shiva. And, it's about the same price if you look around enough.
