I did the big three in my other old school 70 skylark with a 150 amp alt. And i wasnt impressed. now i have another ride, a 69 oldsmobile toronado with a 100 amp alt and i am thinking should i do it.

Can somebody explain the pros and cons of not doing a big three.

I am running two amps off 0/1 guage cable to a distribuiton box spilt out to 4 guage.

One amp is a jbl audio 1200.bp. amp and the other is a lanzar 800 watt 4 channel vibe amp, old one not the new garbage.

You really wont be able to "hear" a performance increase by doing the "big 3". What you're effectivly doing is giving the alt. and other electrical stuff more room to "breathe". It's the same as changing out the stock tube running from the air filter to the intake with a larger tube. You give the ability to pass more (air/electricity) thru it.

It is going to depend on what you want to do with the vehicle. The first thing I would do is to replace wire and upgrade all the grounds. If the battery is oldish or currently failing then replace it as well. If your system demands much more power then what your current alt provides then you should up the alt. Being that you have an older car you have 2 advantages, first the draw that the car takes is much less then cars with ecu, gems, and bcms, second is that they are much easier to work with.
