i am using a jbl 1200.1 amplifier and a power acoustik 2.4 farad capacitor with 4 gauge power and ground cable it has a digital top on it when playing the system at low volumes the cap stays at 13.8 and drops to 13.6 but when i am really pushing it it drops to 11.9 and goes back up to 13.8 till the next deep bass note drops i put in a new alternator and i checked the voltage at the alternator it was 13.6 when the bass hits i dont know what is going on please help
It sounds like its doing exactly what its supposed to be doing.

Check it out.
so there is no way that i can keep the battery voltage at the voltage under the hood is that correct what if i put a battery yellow top in the trunk instead of a capacitor will the voltage stay up
The whole electrical system runs off of the voltage that the alternator puts out, , if you have a low voltage problem a cap or a battery will not fix it since its the alternator that sets the benchmark above the battery's stable operateing voltage. You need a higher output alternator.
If the alternator is being maxed out ,your voltage then drops below its set current of 14 volts, if you are dropping below 12.5 volts it only means 1 thing, you need an alternator.

alpine guy what i was saying was the voltage would be at 13,8 at the front of the car when i get a low bass note but when i check the voltage at the rear of the car when i get a low bass note i get 11.8
Are you using the same meter to measure the voltage at the alternator and at the Cap terminals? Also measure the voltage at the car battery terminals and at the alternator. Then repost.Russ
