I went to a local dealer and got some pretty good prices for each of these to 2 set ups. I own a 1997 chevy 2500 x-cab. I was wondering what system would be better two 12" W3v2 JL Audio subwoofers with a JL Audio 500/1 monoblock "Slash"-Series Amplifier. Or 2 12" SW8100 Aluminum series Eclipse subwoofers with a 1200W 1 channel Eclipse amplifier (DA7122).
I want my subs to hit hard and to sound good doing it. So which should I go with.
The Eclipse combo would knock the fillings out of your teeth, and sound AWESOME doing it, too. My personal vote would always be Eclipse over the JL, not that JL is bad gear, it just ain't Eclipse...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
If it is between those two setups, I would go with the eclipse. Those eclipse woofers you are referring to are in the range of W6's and will demolish W3's in SPL and SQ. It's comparing apples to oranges, almost double the power handling. If they are similar in price, go with the Eclipse hands down. If cost is an issue, the W3's will still thump in a pickup.
It also depends on the kind of listener you are. Remember how small your cab is and how hard those eclipse's will hit (are you ready for that?). You don't want most of the power of the eclipses going to waste because it's too loud for your truck.

I was wondering if the eclipse would sound good with any kind of music and if they would last as long as the JL Audio. I have heard that the JL would last longer.(Years) I s this true.
