Good size for subs

I have a 93 Toyota MR2 that i want to build a custom sub enclosure for. I have 2 Audiobahn 10" subs and 2 JL W0 8" Subs with 2 boss W475 amps.

I want to try and figure out what would be the best cu/ft would be for the best sound. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

the subs should have their own specs that come with them, figure it out with that, there are also plenty of calculators if you know any of the theile params. they are available on this site

If I remember the car right, and you wanna put the subs behind the seats then you will be pretty much stuck with using the JL's. Also I gotta say that while I dont like JL its a far better sub then the audiobahn. But the advice right above me was very good as well. Figure out what kinda space you have and go from there.

Hehe.... guess who on this site just snif....snif... sold his 93MR2 turbo that had Eclipse aluminum 10's behind the rear seats. I am alarge dude as well and still had full travel of the seat. Put the 8's away, use a mans sub (or in this case the 10's). You will have to cut the metal out that is infront of the factory subs. Remove the sub enclosures, peel back the carpet and cut the metal out. Cut the carpet along the seam wher it bends upward. Take the stuffing out from behind the carpet on the rear firewall. On the drivers side you will have to relocate the trunk release mechanism to the front or top of the new sub box.

Fibreglass will be your friend here. Glass all sides, bottom and back and use mdf for the front and top. The top of mine we scored the boxes in the shape of the t-roof so as to allow it a place to sit properly and not use those stupid straps that are there (removed mine). The sub must be countersunk into the box so that the cone does not hit the back of the seat. If you are af the 6' variety like me, you cannot bring the box out of the back much further than the stock one. If you are shorter, you can bring the box forward more and increase airspace. We ended up with just over .5 cu.ft in each enclosure and two 10" subs in that little car absolutely laid waste like no other.

Ahhh, what have I done... it's too early in the morning for me. Sell the Audiobahns and buy a different sub, for Pete's sake, the MR2 will surely shrivel and die a horrible death with Audiobah in it.

HAHA, funny stuff, yea, i've seen worse things done to a car then just having audiobahn written on the speakers,,, i would stick with 2 10's in a car like that too, i don't think havin 2 8's and 2 10's would really work out to well

depending on the type of sound you're looking for?...tighter bass response go with the smaller subs (8-10) nice lingering bass go with something nice and big *wicked smile* (ala db dragster) 12,15 or maybe even 18! lol....and i guess you have to take everything else into consideration...the vehicle's environment is not a friendly one..
