i want to put a capacitor in my car but i want to know the correct way for connecting, is it just the supply from the battery going to it then another supply coming out of the capacitor to the amp if anyone can help please let me know thanks in advance.

Yes. And of course you have to ground it too. But the best thing would be don't even buy one. They are useless.

I disagree, a cap is good for a quick burst of power, which can fix minop voltage problems, battery's on the other hand are not as quick of a discharge, buy a cap 2.0 farad or higher and team it with a good battery.

I have yet to find where adding a cap helps. They are a band-aid for a system, not a fix.

ah, you can get alot of power out of a cap very quickly. Like a camera flash. They aren't made to help you if your charging system isn't up to the job.
I've got one in my car. It helps.

i'd personally recommend a cap...a bandaid? Not at all...i'd consider a "noise filter" more of a bandaid than anything.....caps do a good service when the bass hits nice and hard....not to say it will prevent the dimming...but it'll definately aid/reduce it..(depending on your application of course)

know how i went from 146.8 to 147.2? added a 5 farad instead of a 2, a cap is a quick burst of power, a yellowtop,redtop,stinger or any other battery is a slow discharge and still let your voltage drop too quickly, but a good battery(or 2) along with a cap and alt. is a sure fire way to supply almost any street system. case in point my brothers system (meca standings TN Chad bryant) has a 86 buick hearse with 4 Hifonics goliath 1516 and 2 colossus 3200 rms amps, running a 200 amp alt, blue top under hood, 2 yellow tops in back, went from 156.3 to 157.9 by JUST adding caps, that is amazing numbers from a little of nothing, his batterys would supply quick enough voltage to his amps and he was losing .3 db every second he was burping, added a 5 farad soundstream to each amp and now he maintains a steady 13.4 or so during a burp.

Those numbers are impressive...but perhaps the irony (to me) was that your brother did the installation on a 86 buick hearst,lol....4 hifonics goliaths (1516's) are perhaps enough to wake the dead up.. ------------- *paw print*

lol, it bumps alright. the loudest subs i have ever personally installed are some selliniums, but they seem to go poof too easy, maybe i just had a lemon pair. i used some digital designs awhile back that hit nice, but earthquake 5k rms amps are enough to fry anything :) (btw i did not own theese, too expensive)

the cap will only be powering a directed 600d amp and a small alpine nothing as big as your systems so is there any point in puting one on this type of system.

Forget about the cap. It's a noise filter at best, more realistically dead weight added on to impress.

thanks for the help everyone i think im just going to leave the cap out of the install it sounds good as it is anyway was just wondering if it would help improve anything.
