I just bought 2 15" hpo's off ebay and the guy that sold them to me said that they had been sent to memphis to be reconditioned right before he sent them to me. I got both of them, but havent hooked them up yet. I pushed the sub back and forth and it didnt have any problems, but the second sub i pushed back and the sub made a crackling noise and stayed in the back position. I had to go from the other side and push it back in order for it to go back and it made another crackling noise. What is this? is there any way to take the sub apart and fix something? I havent hooked any of the subs up yet. Someone please help.

The voice coils are done for...you got ripped off....And being that you purchased it online and not from a dealer memphis will not warrenty it...I would see about getting ahold of the person you bought it from...I am not sure what E-Bay can do for you being that you got ripped but look into that also..

Good luck (Dont buy from e-bay)

Yeah. Subs are one thing I would never buy used. Chances are some punk kid absolutely HAMMERED on them prior to posting them and is now selling them, "LIKE NEW!"

yea!, that coil is fry'd for sure, ebay does have a payer garentee thing i think, check that out, paypal also does if you payed through a bank acount, so check out those options, and send the kid a nasy email

also, check the coils of the sub with an ohmeter, and push it again to make it stick, if it zero's out when you do this, then don't hook it up to power to test it out, (i'm not sure if you ment that you were going to try and hook them up or not)  cause if this zero's out, or shorts out,, then you'll let the smoke out of your amp,

is there any way to repair this sub? The guy i bought them from said he would give me a 30 day warranty from him and he would send them back to memphis for me.

if he says he can send it back, then send it back, memphis will fix it if he bought it from a dealer

i dunno, in my experience, memphis has been pretty good about turning things around in a hurry,,, if that other guy sends them out right when he gets them it might be like 2 or 3 weeks, but that's about as fast as you could even hope for it
