thinking about building a plexiglass sub box. Need advice. going with plexi to put neons in to light up. will house 3 JL 12W7 powered by 3 1000/1 amps. dont know if table saw will mess it up, what is best to seal or bond edges to make air tight. and should i even build a plexiglass box or stick with the good old MDF. just wanted to try something new. cost of material is no concern.

Cost is very high, but plexi is fun to work with.  Glue holds the sides together and seals it too.  A proper plastic cutting blade will work with a table saw.  Is there a Tap Plastics near your house?  They are a good source for sheet material and will cut it for you too.

It's a pretty good little tutorial that shows step by step what he is doing.

a sheet of 3/4 locally around here will run you about $350-400.

A more reasonable option would to build most of the box out of mdf, laminate the inside with 1/8" mirrored plexi, then do the front and top (or whatever will be visible) with 3/4" plexi. It will take alot less money and IMO look better.

Just better make sure that it is one hell of a strong box if your gonna pound on 3 W7's with that much power. Hate to see it Fly apart on you.

For the plexiglass there is a chemical bonding agent that will fuse acrylic plastic together at a butt joint. You apply with a syringe ( I think that's how you spell it )  and it bonds within 10 minutes. You will need to use fine thread screws as well to screw the box together for added strength.
