Subject: Question about Hifonics amp

I was wondering when Hifonics stopped making amps in the US (if they ever stopped). I bought a used Eagle (no picture)and was expecting the new style amp that is silver with the light-up logo. When I got the amp in the mail, it was an older version and it says "Made in the USA" on the top. I also noticed it said "American Warriors" instead of "American Warrior". I am hoping this amp was made during the glory days of Hifonics. I know their higher end stuff is still good but, I hear the smaller amps are not as good as they used to be. I also noticed it was rated @ 45x4 and the newer ones are 50x4. It is a grayish green color and has a ton of cross-over options. Sorry, I am just getting back into this stuff after being out since the early 90's when PPi' s Art series, Orions HCCA, and PG's M series were hot. It does look like a Hifonics amp from that era but I do not know. Any info would be great.

Hifonics is made by Maxxsonics, home of Crunch and Autotek.  Not bad gear.  I suggest you contact them to discuss your amplifier.  Phone is 847-540-7700 and email is johns@maxxsonics.com

That amp was Hifonics first lower cost and smaller footprint amplifiers. It is probably 7-8 years old. They we not as heavy duty as their series 8 amps but filled a nice niche.I sold a few of those mainly as an amp for 51\4 's and 6\12's and occasional 8 or 10" sub to a sane type of customer.I hope that helps,Russ

Thanks for the help. I plan on using the amp to run my 5.25's and my 6.75's in my Aveo. I like the small footprint and I want more of an SQ system rather than an SPL. All I run is 2 pairs or coaxils and a 10" E type driven by an MTX amp with 200W RMS and that is plenty for me.
