Hey everybody! I am looking to purchase a 12" Eclipse subwoofer within the next few days. I am a little confused on which one would be best for my application. I have a 1993 Eagle Talon AWD and I prefer rap music along with the occasional rock, R+B, etc. I chose to go with Eclipse simply because of their quality and reviews I read. I have a CD3434 head unit by Eclipse and I love it! Anyways, below are a few different subwoofers by Eclipse that I am looking at.

7100 Aluminum Series:
12" Eclipse (2ohm+2ohm) 450RMS - SW7124DVC-T2
12" Eclipse (4ohm+4ohm) 450RMS - SW7124DVC-T4

7300 Aluminum Series:
12" Eclipse (4ohm+4ohm) - 450RMS SW7324DVP

Which one would you recommend? I do not have a lot to spend but I will purchase any of these subwoofers if it is worth the extra $$. From my understanding the only difference between the 7100 and the 7300 series is that the 7100 series features a dual voice coil, correct? Will the dual voice coil be worth purchasing over the single voice coil subwoofer?

Now to power the subwoofer I am really interested in the Phoenix Gold amplifiers. A few models that I was looking at are as follows:

Phoenix Gold X400.1 Xenon Mono Class D Amplifier
Phoenix Gold Octane R5.0:1 Mono Amplifier

Which would operate better with the subwoofers given above (depending on your suggestion for the subwoofer)? Either of these amplifiers are compatible with the above subwoofers correct? What confuses me most is the ohm (resistance) rating on the amplifiers and subwoofers. How should these compare when building a system?

Thank you and any help would be great!

I always recommend the Hifonics Brutus Amp. It can't be beat for the price.

I would suggest the 12" Eclipse (2ohm+2ohm) 450RMS - SW7124DVC-T2 as it gives you the most common wiring options, 1, 2, and 4 ohms

I disagree with that if he is looking at using the pheniox gold amps. They arent one ohm stable to the best of my knowledge so you would have to wire it up in 4 ohm mono which will not get the best preformanceout of the amp. If I was looking at using a mono block I would be using a dual 4 ohm sub and wiring it down to two ohms. I also have to ask when it has become so common to wire a dual voice coil sub in two ohm stereo and how common it really is to wire a amp into one ohm. I think the most common wiring is going to be 4 ohm mono and 2 ohm mono. $ ohm mono on stereo amps and 2 ohm mono on mono blocks. If he was running two subs then I would agree with using dual 2 ohm voice coils being that he could then achieve the 2 ohm mono configuration most people seem to desire, esspecially on mono block amps. Just my 2 cents. I would pick the amp first then pick the sub to match being that you have your choice narrowed down already for the most part.

Ok so let me try and understand this. If I chose to go with the Phoenix Gold Octane R5.0:1 Mono amplifier then you would recommend using the 12" Eclipse (4ohm+4ohm) 450RMS - SW7124DVC-T4 subwoofer? I am leaning toward the Octane R amplifier right now which is stable at a RMS power of 400 watts (1 channel) on 2 ohms. I am starting to get a good understanding of this now so I think those will be my final decesions unless anybody has any other suggestions.

So in conclusion...
Phoenix Gold Octane R5.0:1 Mono amplifier
12" Eclipse (4ohm+4ohm) 450RMS - SW7124DVC-T4 subwoofer

How does that setup sound? With the correct box setup of course! Thank you everybody for the suggestions so far. I appreaciate the help!
