Wiring Question, 1994 Ford Taurus GL

Hey all, recently aquired a '94 Taurus GL Sedan from a friend, and he had an aftermarket headunit that he took back when I got the car.

I am left with the original wiring (ie no snipped wires, etc) and the original tape deck, and now I have to hook it up myself.

The wires themselves are not in the brackets, and I have spent the better part of a week looking for a diagram showing where they should go.

Found one here, https://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Ford-Wiring.pdf but the colors don't match up to the colors in the car. And I have run across 2 or 3 different pages telling me different things about the colors. (For example, the diagram listed here https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1994&make=Ford&model=Taurus&ID=17854&type=Stereo still only has 6 of the 7 wires, and I have found nowhere that matches them up to the original harness.)

Is there any site which can tell me exactly which colors go where on the original harness so I can hook the original head unit back up to the car?

You said the wires aren't snipped, but they're not in the brackets.  I'm assuming you mean the harness (plug that goes into the factory radio)?  Does this mean your friend pulled all the pins out of the factory harness?

Yes, I think because he didn't want to do any permanent damage to the wiring.

Only problem now is I can't figure out they order they go back in. :D

Okay, don't let him install one for you then.  (Smack him across the back of his head for me.)  He could have bought an adapter harness that plugged into the factory harness.  You need to invest in a multimeter if you don't have one. 

Do you have the factory harness (the one that plugs into the factory radio)?  If not, you need to get one.  You can probably pick one up at Circuit City.  You shouldn't simply plug individual pins into the back of the radio.  Now you'll need to test the wires for power, accessory, ground, etc. so you can set the pins back in place.

I do in fact have the actual harness connectors. The wires clip right into them. The trick is figuring out the order. :)

Like (I am finding out) I have the standard Ford connectors, 88-95 or something, where I have an 8 pin black connector (the 4 speakers) and a 7 pin grey (power, acc, ground, etc.)

I think I Have figured out the three main wires (power, acc, ground) but there are still 4 more on that harness alone, and I need to figure out the correct placement to clip them back into the harness. I will take pictures tomorrow if that will help.

Ohm your speakers, and pop them with a battery for polarity.  Check the wire you've identified as ground to ensure it's not an illumination/dimmer wire.  Turn on the parking lights and scroll up and down the dimmer switch.  In the end you may have one wire left- power antenna, which may or may not be used anyway.
