I'm about to install a Pioneer AVH-P6400 in a 1990 Nissan 300ZX. I can't find anyone that makes a wiring harness or install kit for this car. I can get around the wiring harness no problem, but I'm wondering about the kit. Does anyone know if the 300 is a single DIN opening? Also, will a DIN receiver slide in to the right depth with no kit? Any info is appreciated.

I'm ALMOST 100% positive that you have a double din. If you have the Bose system... it is double. The harness kit is going to be funky and probably expensive. Bose speakers are built for Bose decks. If you want some good info, go to https://www.zcar.com and click on the 90-96 forum. Those guys should help out big time. They will probably say exactly what I said. Best bet is to get new speakers, they will sound much better with the new deck......but it all comes down to money. (88 300ZX) -------------

your 300xz does not need a kit just use the factory brakets. remove them from the oem unit and attach them to your new head-unit. Also, it is not a double din, but rather 2 single dins. Some have a radio and a seperate cd player directly below. If it is a bose system i highly recomend you get new speakers all the way around and byass the factory amps. The reason being is most aftermarket head-unit's are 4 ohm. Bose speakers draw 1 ohm. This will make your new head-unit over heat.

Thanks for the help. Also, someone recently mentioned to me that i need a special harness to bypass the factory amp. They mentioned one made by Scocshe. Is there any other way to bypass the amps?

You can run all new speaker wire from the deck to the speakers. I've never done a 300ZX, but other bose systems use amplifiers at the speakers, so I'd imagine this would be the same. Every older Nissan I've seen has been an isomount factory radio. If it's a double din factory radio you can get a universal pocket to mount below the aftermarket radio.

you can run new lines from the speaks to the head unit...just make sure they're 4 ohm and not 1 ohm...1 ohm speaks will cause your deck to overheat, which is a bad thing....just take you're DMM and test the load..... Your car is an iso mount...if you have two units in there...get a universal pocket to repalce the lower unit, or upper unit, however you wanna do it...If you don't know what an iso-mount is, repost and it'll be explained... now..if you want my advice...get the factory amp interface kit....it'll make your life easier....but that's jsut my advice.. ------------- Đễẳ†ђş 12\/ Ĵęśŧē®™

Alright. One more question. If I use the Scosche amplifier integration harness can I use aftermarket speakers? I want to put in Pioneers that are probably 4 ohm. The car has a seperate amp for each speaker. I'd rather use the harness rather than run all new wire to every speaker. Will the factory amps deal with the 4 ohm load without any problems? I want to figure out exactly what I want to do before i start taking stuff apart. I'm an experienced installer but I've never dealt with a factory Bose system so I want to make sure I get it right.

See what the impedance of the Bose are...you might be able to just hook the pioneers up to it...I doubt it, but you never know....if they're not..just run new wires to the headunit.........that's the easiest way.... ------------- Đễẳ†ђş 12\/ Ĵęśŧē®™

If you are going to put in new pioneer speakers, then definately run new wires. It's not that hard. Tape the new wires very cleanly to the old ones, and pull them through the door. The factory amps will not sound with non bose speakers. You might get sound, but it won't be very clean.

You don't need to run all new wires to each speaker. Just bypass the amp. Find the wire going into the amp from the head-unit and connect your new speaker there. Remember to take note of polarity. Although if you want to keep the bose speakers and sound but with and aftermarker head-unit, there is away. Repost and I'll go in to this option.
