I've got a new pioneer avh-p7600dvd with dolby digital, mb quart and focal speakers, 2 phoenix gold amps (500.1 for my diamond audio D6 12" sub and 500.4 my 4 mbquart and focal speakers).

Question is, what do I use for my center channel? Will I have enough volume if I power the center channel with the headunit (50X4)? Do I need another amp to match the power of the other speakers? Any suggestions for a center channel? I have a 4" hole in the center dash, pioneer makes a center channel that sits on top of the dash (don't know if the quality is any good though).

Help!

Thanks,
Ron

I believe this Clarion SRK5 center channel may be discontinued now, but Crutchfield has one here.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Focal sells speakers by the piece, I suggest you do this. I am doing this same thing at present in a RX8 except using a 6.5" + tweeter for the center channel driven off of the Xtant 1.1 amplifier. In surround sound, the center channel does the most work, I would be looking to amplify it.

yeah, definately look into a strong speaker to handle your center channel needs, when watching movies it will be the main speaker for movement on the screen, stuff to the side will be played by the rest of your speakers.

Agreed.  In a 5.1 system the center channel is the most critical speaker in your system and needs to be at least the same quality and powered with the same wattage as the front mains.  Do not scrimp on the center channel.  If you have a 4" hole in the center of your dash that you can use for the CC, look for a good quality 4" coaxial, mid-range or full-range.  You MIGHT be able to squeeze a 5.25" in there if you try.  I'm not familiar with the Pioneer speaker you mention, but I have heard the CC systems from Clarion and Eclipse and both are more than sufficient.  But as with all speakers, trust your own ears!
