I just installed 4 Image Dynamics ID8v.3's and it doesn't sound very good. They sound pretty distorted when I'm pushing them. I'm using a Hifonics BX1500D amp. I know this amp has enough power but isn't the best quality. Could it truely be because of the amp quality? If I get a JL or other high end amp, will the sound be THAT much better? Right now I'm regretting getting this set-up instead of a couple 10's. Thanks for the help...

i dont think that its the amp. How is it wired to your subs and what is the subs rms rating.

how did you build the box? Separate chambers for each sub i hope.

RMS power handling for each sub is 150 watts.

What do you have, the DVC 2 ohm or 4 ohm models, and how are the wired?  If you have the DVC 2's series/paralled to a final 1 ohm load on the amp, they're being overpowered.  Even if you have the DVC 4's series/paralled to a final 2 ohms, they're being overpowered.  You should have those subs at 3 to 4 ohms on that amp.

So, which ones do you have?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
