Exactly as before backstrapping, or a new head unit.     Take the cage and try to find some mounting points in the dash to secure it to besides just the dash trim.

For Mine I used a little eDead 1.0 around the inside of the cage and made a back strap out of 1/8 inch steel works perfectly its a snug fit, my entire dash would have to be destroyed in order for the stereo to be stolen or rattle

Just a thought

Any sound deadener will work. It is more than likely a resonant frequency issue. Meaning the dashboard is resonating and is the frequency is travelling right through the isolation devices in the laser sled and this causes it to skip worse than 3 blind girls with a rope. (no offence to the blind). Take the unit out of the dash, does it still skip? Ensure that the unit is mounted properly, ie: backstrap. Next sound deaden the area around the deck. If this still does not work, then I think you will be the proud owner of a nice new Eclipse cd player with a laser sled tuned to resonate at 19hz instead of 70hz.
