I have a 03 silverado with a Bose premium system. I want to hook up an amp and a sub without changing the head unit. I was told that I would need an interface (instead of just a high/low converter tapped into a rear speaker line) to complete the project and bypass the bose amps. Do I need an interface?

Yes a simple PDC - LOC PIE 4 channell step down will do the trick, but you don't bypass the factory bose amp you wire in after the amp. You will find the factory amp harness in the center console and your speaker leads will be standard GM colors.
