hey there! i was wondering if anyone has heard the kenwood excelon 6.5 2 way speaker set before. I am replacing my door speakers and thougt they would be a good choice. What do you guys think? Also i heard that some people have trouble getting speakers to fit in the doors because of them being to deep for hondas, in particular the prelude. Is this going to be a problem for a 1999 accord 4 door. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dj Keebz.

IF YOU ARE REFERING TO THE KFC-X106 THEY ARE A GREAT SOUNDING 2 - WAY.  I HAVE INSTALLED THEM IN A 99 ACCORD BEFORE FROM WHAT I REMEMBER TAKES A LITTLE WORK BUT THEY'LL GO

check the panel depth and see if you have room to space them out any.  You may need to trim some unnessasary plastic from the back of the panel.  You wont need much space to clear the window.

hey again! Actually the speakers i was looking at were the kfc-xr601 model. the look really good, and handle alot of power. Also, has anyone heard of, or used the kac-959 5 channel amp from kenwood. Its rated at around 800 watts. I would like to run a 5 channel so it can power all door speakers and a sub. If any one has a better choice for a 5 channel amp for a reasonable price, please let me know. Im more interested in SQ, instead of bass. Thanks in advance, Dj Keebz

I have been impressed with the Kenwood components lately. They sound good and seem to be of good quality and a good value. I also know the dual mag's have a nice small magnet structure, so that's a help. As to installing, I just a couple of days ago put a set of Infinity Kappa 6.5 components (the ones with huge baskets) into a 2002 prelude. It did involve cutting some plastic on the panel and some metal on the door, just opening the hole a little, but really wasn't that bad. I don't think depth should be much of a problem, at leats on the car, there was rom for teh crossover even to pretty much sit behind/below the speakers. Depth wasn't the probalem, it was the speaker's basket. Before the components, the car had had a set of infinity kappa coaxials, and they were drop in and scew down fast. I'm not sure about the accord though, but I'm pretty sure they're similar. Good luck, and remember, anything is do-able with tools and time!
