Sony CDX-F5710 - 7Band EQ with DSO 3xRCA (2 volt).
Kenwood KDC - X589 (Excelon)
24 bit DA converter 3x RCA (4 volt)

I'm leaning towards the Kenwood (the 24bit DA) but wonder if the 3 band EQ vs 7 band is a major drawback.
Yes I will go and listen to them at the local stereo joint but I'm looking for people who have realworld experience for their imput (i.e. "The kenwood can't pause Mp3s" etc).
Thanks.
If your looking to play just mp3's then its pointless to be looking at specs on a deck, no matter how good the deck its still going to sound like poop. I would still take the kenwood over any sony explode product, they have a better quality product.

I have adiffrent opinion MP3 can sound excellent (it is efficient compression + and you can also use a loose compresion for even better quality).
I did not say I was usign it for MP3s mainly (it was an example comment like watch out for the 2 volt output they don't put out clean signal).
Here is the question I wanted answered:
Which one is better
Kenwood - 24bit Dac, 3 band EQ 4 volt 3x RCA or the Sony 1bit DAC 7 band EQ 3xRCA 2volt.
In plain english Is the 7band EQ worth not having 4volt outputs and the 24bit DAC.
I would go with the Kenwood, Kenwood makes a decent HU, while most of the Xplod stuff is crap. Also the 4 band EQ wont be much differant then the 7 band.

Thanks pimpin.
I agree the Kenwood appears to be a bargain for what you get I can get it for $160 shipped from Ebay (no refurb not returned but NEW) (the 24bit DAC 4 volt outputs are strong features).
The Kenwood 24Bit DAC is crafted by BurrBrown equipment of choice for highend Eclipse, Nakamichi, Denon, ClarionPro head units.
