I have the Pioneer DEH-P840... https://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/pna/product/detail/0,,32171715_32249681_34665004,00.html

A while back, the motorized flap on it stopped swinging down.  I was obivously upset, but then the next night it just started working again.  I'm not sure why, but needless to say, I was happy.

It just happened AGAIN... does anyone know why this happens, or how I can fix it?  Please help me out here.. I can't change CDs, remove the face, change audio settings.. Anyh help would be so incredibly appreciated.

-Josh

try pulling your deck out then turning it on and see if it works. your cage might be pinching on the sides. just an idea. original mask kenwoods a problem with that if the cage was bent in just a little.

I hate to say this, but there was a problem with that head unit. The ribbon would come unattached and would cause the failure you are talking about. The fixed the problem by the next production year, but the owners of the DEH-P840/8400MP didn't want to hear that. If you have your reciept and it was purchased from an Authorized Premier dealer within the last 2 years it should still be fixed under warranty.
