I am getting ready to install my system in my 55 chevy  but i do not want the radio on the dash,  i have a couple ideas but not sure what the best way to go is.   was thinking glove box but not thrilled about looing the room.  thought about the sony setup  with the marin remote,  But my newest idea was to wire a face plate from a radio and moun the face in the sunvisor and hid the radio under the seat then put a changer an xm in the trunk.  Has any body ever tried to remote mount a radio face plate it looks like it could be done if very carfull any sugestions would be great

Yeah you can do it. The company I use to work for we built custom skid steer radios where we would just mount the face in the cab and the main part of the radio would go under the seat. The hardest part if you haven't don a lot of soldering will be desoldering the circuit board of the radio you need to be really careful so you don't burn up the board. then you will just need to run wire from the board to the face plate desolder the connector on the face plate and resolder the wire. We also did this in a older corvette that the owner didn't want the dash cut. I would see if there are any custom shops by you and depending on there experience level they should be able to do this

it was single strand phone cable that had 12 lines in it cause thats all we needed. We were useing kenwoods entry level tape deck 215 detachable face. We orginial got it for radio crack then we started getting it from a bigger distributor because we needed more then they could get us.
