small problem got a kenwood kdc-519 in a suburban every thing works except the display any ideas?

It's probably the internal ribbon cable.  If you tap or push on the display, does it come on?

no,i tried resetting it and claening the contacts as well to no availe may need a new face plate?

Probably not your facplate. The Kenwood mask units use a ribbon cable to transfer data to the face from the unit itself. These are notorious for going out.Usually last about 1-2 years, depending on use. Considering that unit is about 3 years old, you were fortunate! If you like the unit and would like to have it repaired,take it to your local Kenwood dealer, and they can have it repaired for about $100-$120.

There are a few people on here that have ordered the ribbon and replaced it themselves, but I would not recommend that.
