Is there an easy way to fry/zap a pioneer HU so that when it is sent back to pioneer for sevice, they don't repair it, but instead they replace it. Maybe the right combination of crossing wires or applying to much power?
Preferrably, this would be something that is not noticable...maybe erasing the memory so that the HU can't do anything?

there are a number of ways to blow the heck out of something, however there is no way to guarantee that they wont fix it anyway and then you'll have a HU that has been blown to hell and will never quite be the same again.... it's best not to be a weasel, but simply to ship it in as is with a note saying you would like to have the unit replaced if possible....

I think what you are referring to is called "fraud".

No kidding man. I don't need some smart ass remark about it. If you don't know how to answer the question, then don't post.
First off, I'm asking for a friend, I don't condone doing this sort of thing. I like pioneer's stuff and take care of it. so if you have moral issues, pretend it's a hypothetical question.
Secondly, fyi this type of thing goes on in best buy's corrupt install bay on an almost daily basis. the worlds not perfect.

No. If you try and defraud Pioneer and then you get caught you will end up with an unrepaiRED / unrepairable radio. Why not take it back to the dealer that you bought it from and have them swap it for you if it is bad? If you, as a consumer try and send it in without an receipt or a receipt from an unauthorized dealer, you may end up not liking the end result. Good luck though.
