if this doesn't work i try at home tonight  the question is i have a 2004 expediton and the 2 -12" are in a seperated sealed boxed independently fed by 2 alpine amps mdr-1005 an they take up space. when i need to load up the back. i have to shift them around to make stuff fit in, so can i replace them with 4- 8" momo or kicker subs and costumize a box that i can mount them on the rear hatch will the 4 8" give me as good bass as the2- 12" that's my main question

You might find yourself lacking in the low bass.   The only subs I have ever seen that ar 8 inch subs that truly had the the low end of a 10 or 12 inch woofer was the old old 8w6 jl's    Besides them everything else seams to lack under 70-80 hz     where most bass is really there to punch you in the gut
