Hey guys, I know everywhere to hook up my amp now, and can easily route the wires throughout the car, but there still is one problem. In my accord, i really do not know how to get the 8 guage power wire through the firewall. It is wrapped really tight. Do you think i should pop a hole in the sealing of the other wires in the hole? If not, then what?

hey man...Drill a hole...if you try popping the sealing as you put it...you risk causing damage to the wires, since you have to use something sharp to pop through that stuff........severe a wire, and than you ahve to go through, find the wire, splice it...it's a hassle....Just find a place under the dash, that's clear on both sides, and drill a hole, pop a grommet in and run your wire...that's the best way I've found to do it...and I did an accord a few days ago.. .than again...I'm a nut...I drill holes to run my power wire all the time, rather drill a new hole, instead of dealing with an existing one..than you gotta deal with pushing the wire through, fighting, looking for it on the otherside, blah blah blah...now granted a lot of installers, and places dont' like that...but it makes it easier for me...than again...when I put in an alarm...I tear out the drviers side seat...more room...but I've always done stuff this way... ------------- Đễẳ†ђş 12\/ Ĵęśŧē®™

Use a utility knife and cut into the rubber gromet that runs all the cables through by the steering wheel column. Cut by the outer edge ( not near the wires ) and cut an " X " formation and slip the wire through this portion of the cutout. Before you try to push the wire through the " X " make sure you apply some grease or oil on the tip of the wire so it is easier to push through the gromet.

I go with the way Jeff said. I make a small X cut in one of the big grommets, usually on the side with the battery, often the same one that all the wires form the fusebox come from. Then just push the wire through. Works very well nearly all of the time, and often a lot less hassle than trying to find a place that's clear on both sides. Some cars have a double firewall which can make drilling really dangerous because you can't tell what kind of stuff is run between them. I very much like to use the hole the manufacturer put there, and I have yet to work on a car where, with a small amount of effort I couldn't get at least 8 gauge wire through a factory grommet.

Well yeah, that's true...forgot it's 8 ga.....that's true..., but I'd still drill...but I like todrill holes in things....it's fun!!!! Plus...I love it when I gotta do an install and only need 8 ga....but for some reason..everyone that comes into the shop...wants their power to be 4 ga or 2 ga.... ....That's even on a small MTX amp...the one that's like 35W X 2.... I am still trying to figure out, why they go big, and don't listen to me when I say, they're wasting money....... C'mon Guys...Bigger is not always better!! even the ladies will tell you that..there's a point in which it's too big...and I'm sorry but 4Ga for a 70W amp..is too big... But yeah, you can do it that way to....cut an "x", lube it up, and stick it in ------------- Đễẳ†ђş 12\/ Ĵęśŧē®™
