Is there any way to get a better reception out of Toyota cars and aftermarket radios? Since that smaller second antenna wire is not connected, the reception is not as great. Is there an adapter for it? Otherwise what is the best way to get a better am/fm reception from the car? Thanks!!!

sounds like it has the power antenna, i had a car come in once that had an aftermarket cd player put in and i hooked up the wire for the antenna but it never powered it to raise it up for the radio. there is another wire that has to be connected to power up the antenna. i connected the factory cd player and found what wires did what and narrowed it down that way with my DMM...after i connected that second power wire, things were fine.,

I did hook up the power wire for the antenna, and the mast goes up, but the reception cuts in and out too easily. What I was asking is you know the actual antenna wire that you plug into the back of the radio, well there is two. The second one is smaller and does not get plugged in. I am wondering if there is a way to plug this in, in addition to the regular antenna plug.

use an antenna "Y" adapter and hook up both antennas, just like the factory Nissan units use.... Toyota radios actually use a diversity tuner, which your aftermarket unit wont have, but you should be able to get a bit more signal into the radio this way at least....

I have never seen a Y antenna adapter. Do you have a part number?
