anyone have experience installing a new head unit in newer vettes' ? (2004 case in point) i did a quick search in the forum and ran across the PAC ROEM-Vet1 being talked about, i take it i need one of these to interface a new headunit with the factory BOSE system? and i also ran across a note on the PAC website, saying that optional tweeters needed to installed in order to retain high frequencies. whats the deal with that? any help would be appreciated!!!!

hey there  --

I have done LOTS of Vettes  --

The front Doors -- 7" woofer and a 4" mid

Rears are a 5.25" mid only -

There are 2 amps in the car - One Above the Gas Pedal the other in the foot well  These Amps are also the xovers for the complete system

Depending on what u r tryin to do - you can leave the Stock Radio in there -- NEED to Wire around the OEM amps. - and you might wantto drop an Line Driver on the output -

Otherwise to swap the oem radio .... the Bezel is alittle bit of a pain in the ass -- rear consloe  / under drivers dash need to come off =

Pop a dash kit in there - Bam - done!

Hope all this helps ..

Marty

Thats exactly what they want done, just a new head unit installed nothing else, retaining the rest of the bose system, metra lists a 99-4000 for the dash kit and a 70-1858 for the wire harness. So are you saying you dont need anything special to interface a new head unit with the OEM bose system? no kind of interface? are you using hi-level or lo-level from the new source units to feed the bose system?
