Excuse the dumb question but - my radio, clock, dome light, and electric door locks have quit working. I've checked all fuses in the fuse box and all are good. The truck is out of warranty (at least for the electical system, I think) so I don't want to take it to the dealer to fix a stupid fuse.   Are there any inline fuses for these devices? Could the problem be a relay? What color would the wire be, so I can trace where it's going?

Thanks!

do you check to see if there are fuses under the hood. did you use a dmm to test fuses sometimes they look alright but they could be bad.

Yes, I did use a DMM. But I realized it was a good idea to look under the hood. So I attempted to do just that. To my surprise, I discovered that I can't open my hood - pulling the hood-release lever on the dash does nothing. The cable behind the lever seems like it may be loose. Interestingly, the cable runs between the bunch of wires that come out of the fusebox. I wonder if the cable problem has dislodged a wire. I'll check that out in the morning when I have better light. Thanks for the tip!

Wow!

Get under that hood!  There is a fuse labelled "dome" under there, I believe it's a 20 or a 15amp fuse.  I blew mine on my 2nd gen 4runner and had the exact symptoms as you save my door locks...

Yota, you were right about the "dome" fuse, and it was 15 A. I finally got my hood open (don't know why it gets jammed up) and found it. I replaced the fuse and it immediately popped, so there's a short somewhere. Back to the drawing board! Hmm, I wonder if the door locks are on a different fuse.

Same issue on my 04
I have an 04 sport V8 4X4 and the same thing happened to me this week, I tried to lock the doors with the remote and nothing happeed - it seems on the 04 anyway all the interior lights, the clock, the HomeLink controls and the keyless entry stuff are all connected to the "dome" fuse under the hood (10A onn mine). my fuse does not blow instantly but just randomly every other day or so.

I did notice that there is also a DOME relay in the same fuse box snd that relay is the same part as several others in there so I just swapped it with the one for the fog lights (untill I can get a replacement) and I'll see if the same fuse blows again.

If you have'nt already you may want to check if you also have a relay, pull it and see if you still pop the fuse right away.
