does any one know if the 2003 mitsubishi galant has a built is amplifier, bucause I will put a stereo on one of these and would like to know in advance what to expect, because I heared the stock sound system and it doesn't sound bad at all, Also if it does have a built in amplifier do you know how to bypass it, thank you.

I second that, the amp is under the passenger seat with all your speaker wires. I have a 2001 Galant and just had all the old junk removed a month or two ago. Good luck!

Do you know what the rms power is on that stock amp, because I know that the amp I am putting in has 17 watts rms and 50 watts max, and I was wondering if it will sound worse, the same or better the head unit I am putting in is a panasonic cq-c73901u. Thank you

17W RMS is really not much. You may want to consider something in the range of 40-50W RMS so you have the ability to fine tune it a bit more. NOt sure what kind of speakers you are installing or keeping the stock ones, but most speakers will need at least 30W RMS to make them sound as good as they can. Any type of Infinity, Kicker, Alpine, etc. speaker will want more than 17W RMS. I suggest possibly looking at some different amps with a little more power. That way you don't kick yourself later when you do need that extra power.

You are right, I am going to put some infinitys and a small 4 channel mtx, so that I can get some more clarity.

hey guys, i got a 2000 galant GTZ and i want to install an aftermarket deck but i don't know how to bypass the stock amp. can you help?

Well I looked for the harness to bypass the stock amp on that mitsubishi and didn't find anything, so what I was going to do before I realized that my car didn't have a built in amp, was to connect that wires that go from the stereo to the amp with those coming out of the amp and going towards the speakers, but I guess you would have to check in every speaker to make sure that the colors given above for positive and negative wires are right. Assuming that the amp is underneeth the passenger seat.
