My friend has a 2004 F-150.  He wants to put some subs in his truck under the back seat.  He already has bought a downfire box for 2 10".  He has a RF 1001BD (1,100 watt RMS) amp and is looking at the Audiobahn subs are 450 RMS because the box can only fit subs 5.5" deep and the subs are 5".  Are these subs any good and do they sound good?

those subs are over rated ,and that amp is under rated .its not a good combo .look in to subs that can handle a bit more power ,and the lower end Audiobahn stuff that i have installed was not worth the money .as far as the mounting depth go to web sites look at specs. try to find some subs that will work with you max depth and handle about 600 rms . i will look also and get back to you .

He just wants to find some subs to put under his back seat that will be under 5.5" in mounting depth to listen to when he goes on trips with his kids.  He has 2 Kicker 15" CVR (Sit on the rear seat) that he uses right now but he wants something that will stay in the truck when he has to take out the 15" he still has pretty goodd thump.  But the amp is rated at 1,100 watts rms so he will have to adjust his gain so it wont blow the 10"s.  I told him to go with the Kenwood Typhoons (they are 350W RMS a piece)  just turn down his gain so it wont blow. I am just trying to see what other options he has.

Keep in mind that most subs that are vented out the back of the sub require at least 1/2" of airspace to get proper venting and reduce heat.

They make shallow mount depth 5.4 inch Diamond Audio D3 subs as well, I have last years model TM3s in my truck and they sound great. That is a bit too much power for them out of that amplifier however, but it depends what wiring configuration he uses and if that is 1100 rms at 4 ohm or lower.

that amp is just two much power for both of those the kenwoods and the audiobahns  did you look at the van gogh subs they only need like .5 cubes of air space and there 500 RMS they can handle that power check them out

Yeah I checked the Van Goghs but the depth of the sub not the mounting depth.  It may touch the floor of the F-150.  Whats about Coustic any of you ever use there subs the Coustic CF104
