I just switched out my head unit with another one to check and see if it works b/c i was having a problem with it. I tried to run just two wires to it to power it up and see if it would work, but the Grond came into contact with either the constant 12v or the switched, and now i dont have power to the stereo and the Clock for some reason. So i have two questions, the first is obviously, is it a short and/or what can i do t ofix this, and two, is the clock hooked up on the same circuit as the radio? I checked the fuse also, and it is fine so I' m not suer what else to do/look for. Thanks ------------- John

What kind of car and does the cig lighter work?

It is a 1994 integra and the cig lighter doesnt work now, btu the light inside the ashtray still oes, so i dont know if its on a diff. circuit or not.

How did you test the fuse? I've had it happen where the fuse looks good, but in reality, it's blown. I recomend using a wire tester (doesn't have to be a muti-meter), ground one end, and there is a notch at both sides of the top of the fuse; test both sides. You should get reading from both sides; if not, the fuse is blown, which is what it sounds like to me. It (hopefully) didn't short as that is what the fuse is for (I've had this happen to friends before).

I've got a multi-meter, but should i check the fuse itself, or put it inside the box and test it there? I also tried swapping it out with another fuse to see if it would work then but it didnt either.

an update, my cig lighter DOES work, so I'm thinking that i might have fried the wire? any sugestions?

Many times there are more than 1 fuse for the stereo. Does your dome light still work?

Do you have 12v at the wire harness? If not then you have a bad fuse, if you do then the hu is fried.

I vote for looking for a second fuse. I know Chevies have 2 fuses on the same circuit in two different spots. If one blows, but the fuse checked looks good, you would think it was something more serious.
