what is the ohm rating on the subs? I assume you are talking about the wiring configuration?

yes the wiring config. It says on the website either 2 or 4 ohms

yes they are single 4ohms subs and my amp is 2 ohms stable. right now the amp is set up where each channel is running a sub. Will i get more power running it your way?

if it is in the bridged configuration then yes, so long as the amp is brigeable to 2 ohms.

Maybe your amp is not stable at this configuration.

Or you have power/ground issues.

Are sure of the impedance on the woofers? and the capabilities of the amp, is it 4 OHM bridged maybe?

the subs are 4 ohms and the amp is 4 ohm stable bridged i believe. It sucks cause the subs sounded much better when i hooked it up

Right, but you will fry the amp by putting a 2 ohm load to it, so your orginal hook-up of each speaker to a terminal is the way to go for now.

so bridging the amp and hooking up 2 40hms speakers makes it 2 ohms? what if i hook up to 2 2 ohms speakers?

I looked up the amp and it is 75x2 @ 2 ohms stereo

It is 150 bridged at 4 ohms.

I assume you cannot return any of this so run it in stereo.

I suppose you can run two 2 ohm subs in stereo. That's what it says it's capable of.
