I have a 2005 cavalier with an am/fm radio and I got a cd /cassette combo unit out of an 02 cavalier at work but I am unable to hook it up because it locks when hooked up to another vehicle. how can I get the codes or at least get it working in my car more importantly. The part # is 10324041 and the production on the unit (deck) is 09/13/01. Thanks for any help.

You don't. You take it to the dealership, they will unlock it with a tech2(gm tool) depending on whether or not it comes back as STOLEN. And no I didn't call you a thief but they may check the serial numbers.

Always check info with a digital multimeter.
I promise to be good.
Tell Darwin I sent you.
I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
had the same prople with my friends monte carlo. look at the owners manuel for the car the radio came from. IT will give you a code to have you three numbers. Then from there we searhed google with gm theft lock codes or removal i don't remember to good but search around. We found a 800 number that gm uses them selfs and you give them the three numbers that the radio gave you then they give three more numbers and then you go to the radio and punch in the codes and it should work. It worked on his car but this is a different car so lets find out. good luck and i heard if you go to the dealer they charge money like 80. we got it down in about 45 mins so i think it worth it.
ACTUALLY hoaxs, auex is correct and the older Theftlock system of which you speak is not relevent here.... all class II Cavalier radios from 2000-up will only lock up if moved from one vehicle to another.... this is because the VIN of the vehicle is burned into the radio via the Tech II scan tool... it means you no longer have radios locking up because you pulled a fuse or disconnected the battery, but it also means they can no longer be unlocked by every budget installer whose friend's cousin's brother works at at GM dealership and backdoored the tech line number and dealer code. You need the Tech II scan tool to re-edit the VIN into the radio. This can be done by a GM dealership or an authorized AC Delco radio centre like ourselves....

Actually the radio won't ever work in the 1998 Lumina if it came from a 2000 Sunfire. The Sunfire radio is a Class II unit and the Lumina won't support that type of radio. The radio chassis is also too large.
