Hi guys,

I have a 92 Spirit. I removed the factory deck and tried installing a sony xplode deck. I connected it without the speakers first (checked to see wich wires did what from the cars wiring harness ) and it powered up and everything was fine.

So I disconnected it and connected one speaker to see if it would work. Then reconnected the battery, constant, remote and ground, but the deck would not illuminate. It gets power, because I can eject and insert a CD.

I removed the wires and checked that all were working well from the cars harness. The power wire is good. However the constant wire does not work anymore. I get a big 0 with the voltmetre.

Anyone have any clue as to why the constant would just stop working (from the cars wire harness not the deck ) ?

Thank you........

Check all your fuses. There are fuses inside the car and might be some under the hood also.

the constant circuit on many new radios powers the O/P stage... if you have the speaker wiring incorrect or a pinch or short on a speaker wire, you'll blow the B/U fuse right away ( or the O/P stage of the HU )... i would suspect you had something hooked up wrong RE: your speaker wiring.....

you'll want a 12volt all the time on the wire not switched or you will lose all you preset settings

Constant 12V+Red Ignition Switch Harness

I would first check you fuses no use doing extra work  if you don't need to
