Hi, I own the little brother to that amp the Brutus BX1500D and I love it, I have not got a chance to play with the new line from Hifonics, but I ve heard there actually better than last years, if you can get it that amp will put a hurting on almost any sub/sub's you put to it
  Enjoy

correct. The newer series of HiFonics amps are a big upgrade in many internals. The BX1500D only put out approx 1300 watts at 14.4V, which means 12.4 would only get around 900-1000 watts :( BUT they fixed this problem with the new amps. I own the 1605D and it does a good job.

As for the sub, i have many recommendations, but first and foremost...

 What is your budget?
What are you after (being hella loud or sound good, hitting low, or bumpin rap down the street? Whats is the intentions of the subwoofer system?)

I will Recommend Infinity Kappa Perfect 12s. They are great SQ subs with some descent SPL.

if you are wanting heavy hard hitting bass you will want ported boxes i would go with a slot port and 2 12s. i got a kenwood x811d 1600 watt peak 1 ohm 1100 rms 200$ ebay shipped https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&category=79828&item=5783259487&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Nodestiny had this right.  We need more information.   The number one piece of information we need is this: How much space do you have to dedicate to the subwoofer's drivers.  This will totally dictate the rest of your decisions.  It would be foolish to even think about anything else until you've determined that.   Seriously, this will affect the box size, sub size, number of subs, which subs will work, amplifier, everything.  The space you can dedicate to the box is the starting point in sub bass system planning.   ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

You need to measure the space you have available in the trunk for subwoofers.  Ignoring the box is foolish.  Drivers = speakers.  Everything bass starts and ends w/ the available space and the box.
