Im about to order my idmax 12. I currently have the Hifonics bx1500d in my car. If its wired at 2 ohms , it puts out "1000" watts. I am getting the dual 2 ohm voice coil idmax. Those hondle "1000" watts rms. Is this a good match up or what ? please let me know, thanks

You should have got the dual 4 ohm model so you can wire it to 2 ohm. the dual 2 ohm model can only be wired to 1 ohm or 8 ohm. Thats an amazeing sub by the way, enjoy.

Alpine: I'm sure this is just a typo on your part... but the dual 2-ohm can be wired to 1 or ---4--- ohm. thetruth: unless you plan to compete I would recommend against running any amplifier at 1 ohm. Keep it at 4. Buy any amplifier that can do a few hundred watts at 4-ohms and you'll be set. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

IDMAX is rated at 1000 watts.... but that is only on a good day when the breeze is perfect and the sun is out. Give that sub 600+ watts and you will be set to go. It can't really handle 1000 watts except in a small sealed box, etc...etc....

Yup i made a typo, late nite. The IDMax is a great SQ sub that has the ability to bump real hard, i wouldn't feed it anymore than 1000 rms, plus by running it at 2 ohm or even 4 ohm you will put less stress on the amp and it will help in the SQ department slightly.

That sub is fairly efficiant....it dont need alot of power to bang like hell ! The post above saying 600watts perfect. theres more to it though, like the enclosure. put that thing in the small sealed, like ID says too, bump up the power to 800, or a 1000....and hang on to your fillings. -------------

First you need to decide what kind and size of box you are going to put the subwoofer into. As others have already said, you should not run nearly that much power if you run large sealed or ported.
